A playthrough of Demon's Tier + on the Nintendo Switch. I play through each section of the main labyrinth like dungeon, using a different character of the regular 6. However, I only used 5, since the labyrinth only has 5 sections. I didn't use the berserker, not because I don't like him or anything, but I just felt the other characters were in a sense appropriate for the floors I used them on, with their style of play, or other random factors. Also, I don't use the archer's special attack because I seem to not know how to use it, and always get hurt when I do. It's a sensor mine that he places, and if you step on it, or are to close when an enemy does, you get hurt too, and I seem to suck at getting far away enough to avoid that XD
As far as difficutly goes, I play the first 4 sections on tier 1, and the last on tier 2, and I also threw in all 3 endings in the video. Tier 1 and 2's endings are thrown after the credits, and tier 3 i added in right before the surge of final boss battles, since there was no actual cutscene there, and I felt it had important story elements that fit there.
Demon's Tier is a simple, but fun rouge like game where you go through random generated floors in a somewhat complex labyrinth, fight monsters, collect treasures, and occasionally a couple bosses in between. Each time you enter a floor, you get a random objective you need to complete in order to open the door to go to the next one. Defeat all enemies, collect all treasures, find the gold key and open the big chest on the floor, things like that. The game has 8 playable characters, each a different class and their attacking stye differs.
When you first play, you only have access to one character, the knight, who has great defense and health to start, but as you tackle floors, you collect a currency called D-tokens, which are used to unlock the 5 other regular characters, seen throughout cutscenes. The other 2 special characters are unlocked upon beating the entire labyrinth in one run, on the "Tier 1" difficulty, which is basically "easy mode" first, and then the last one on "Tier 2" which is basically "normal mode." The last difficulty "Tier 3" is the "hard mode" difficulty, and although it doesn't get you any big rewards, each tier gives you a different ending upon completing it. Oddly, once you see a cutscene on each floor, you won't see it again even if you beat the game on the tier 1 and 2 difficulties. Only by beating tier 3 you will get to see them again entering each floor once again, If that is something that bothers you like me.
Each character attacks by launching projectiles at their enemies at a distance, but you can fire endlessly, without running out as you move in any direction, no matter what direction you are moving! The power of the projectiles depends on who you are using as well as the distance it can hit, and each character has different moving speeds, health and defense. Chests and killing enemies get you a currency different from D-tokens, and that can be used to improve their stats after clearing a floor. Each character also has a special attack, or defensive move that can be used once, and after that, you have to wait for a recharge indicated by the green meter on the left of the screen. That recharge time can also be improved to reduce the cooldown after clearing levels.
In the labyrinths big chests, you may also find crystals that can boost your stats, or trade off lowering one to upgrade another on the tier 3 difficulty. You may also find some sort of blueprints for each character to get a weapon that starts you off with better stats. Note that you can only find the blueprints for the weapons of the character you are using. The knight cannot find blueprints for a weapon the wizard is missing, the cleric for the berseker, etc. Once you find them, like the other regular characters, you must pay D-tokens to unlock these weapons. The 2 special characters however, don't have any special weapons to unlock.
If you happen to die in the labyrinth, you lose all D-tokens, and only get one chance to find the grave of the character you were using in the same floor you died, and can get your D-tokens back by destroying that grave the next time you enter the labyrinth again, but if you die again before you destroy that grave, you can't recover those lost D-tokens. So use any D-tokens you have to buy potions for healing, magic ropes for escaping if you think you are gonna die to keep your gold, or use them to pay towards getting one of the other characters you don't have, or upgrades to your weapons.
You don't have to pay the full amount required to unlock a weapon upgrade or character necessarily. You won't get the reward, but you can kinda make a downpayment of sorts to avoid losing those tokens and working towards unlocking that reward if that makes sense. If you do die, even though you lose your D-tokens, you won't lose any held potions, relics, magic ropes, or weapon blueprints you found though.
