Inside Passage. Ferry between Port Hardy, Klemtu, and Prince Rupert (Canada). 12/08/2011. New Klemtu ferry terminal opened! On 12 August 2011 a new ferry terminal near the Canadian village Klemtu (Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine) opened. For a long time the resident natives, the Kitasoo Xai’xais (who describe themselves as "First Nations Peoples") have fought for it. The background was that NORTHERN EXPEDITION (2009 built at Flensburger Schiffbaugesellschaft) because of her size could not enter the old ferry berth in Klemtu. The 97-year-old Violet Neasloss (the last fluent speaker of the Southern Tsiamshian dialect) cut a strip of cedar.
