Drawing Curly Hair: A Basic Guide for Beginners

For this, I'm going to draw two Vertical Boundary lines (Guidelines) to begin with it. The curls have a sort of back and forth zigzagging patterns so draw these curls by following these general zigzagging patterns for drawing the curls sections. Once you have a basic simplified structure of the hair curl now draw the Actual curls with more details. For defining these curl I'm going to curve down this stroke to reach the boundary line so we will have the smooth S - like shape to get a nice curl curve. Try to keep your Pencil pressure as light as possible so that when you shade the construction lines they won't show through; that's how you can learn to draw curly hair. 01:30 ⏰ LOOSE CURL STRUCTURE Draw the Loose curl without any boundary line or any basic shape. I'm drawing this freehand curve and then I'll convert it into an S- Shape for drawing this Single curl lock and then I drew one more curly lock behind the first one to show how thick the lock of hair is so that's how I draw the loose Curls by drawing these irregular curls over each other. 02:10 ⏰ WAVY CURL STRUCTURE To draw Wavy Curl. Draw the wavy S- Shape here but keep in mind that the distance between each section of hair over here is pretty close together but make sure to draw loose or expand the space stretching the distance between each section to make it more natural and more flowy so in this curl, I'm also forming a ringlet like this to make hair curl three dimensional so as you all know that curly hair drawing is the hardest to get a grip on drawing due to the details so as much as you'll practice on it you will get better at it. 03:24 ⏰ FILCKY CURL STRUCTURE Draw the random shape and add little curly flicks at the bottom of each curl so this will gives your hair Curl a very realistic look. You can draw these small flicky curls at the bottom of any big curl. 04:15 ⏰ SMALL BUNCH OF CURL STRUCTURE To draw a bunch of curls.
