Quiet Morning Landscape Photography during a Stunning Sunrise

Saturday morning I woke up at around 7am, sleeping in slightly after a busy work week only to see the sky ablaze to the east. The landscape around my home was cast in a beautiful golden glow with the clouds overhead various shades of purples and pinks against a dark blue pre-dawn sky. I rolled the dice the next morning hoping for similar conditions as I jumped in my Jeep with my coffee and headed in to Chataqua park in Boulder, CO. Thankfully, the weather pattern hadn't changed. As I parked, the sky had just begun to glow a deep purple from the sunrise way off to the east, which cast a stunning glow on the Flatirons. The sky was still dark, so a few long exposures captured the gentle glow with extraordinary color. I don't tend to go to this spot too often as it's a bit overdone, but it's still a Boulder icon and Rocky Mountain National Park was calling for storms. I hope you enjoy this predawn, chill "hike" as I photograph some of Boulder's finest landmarks on my way to the perfect spot to enjoy my morning coffee. Nothing crazy in this one - just quiet, solitude, and the wind at sunrise.
