Too Hot to Bike? | A Summer Ride Through Rural Italy

Take a bike ride with me through the countryside of northern Italy at Parco delle Roggie, just south of Bienate and Magnago in the Lombardy region. On a hot summer day in June, I follow the paths through peaceful woodlands and along the edges of beautifully maintained hay and wheat fields. The scenery may be simple, but there is something wonderfully satisfying about seeing the Italian countryside at its most natural—shaded forest paths giving way to wide-open farmland, golden fields, and the rural landscape surrounding these small communities. Parco delle Roggie offers a chance to experience a quieter side of Italy, away from the major tourist destinations. Much of the woodland is managed by the local municipalities, while the trails border the surrounding agricultural land. Come along for a leisurely bicycle ride through the woods, farmland, hayfields, and wheat fields of rural Lombardy. Some sections of the ride are accompanied by music, while other moments let the sounds and atmosphere of the countryside speak for themselves.
