You sort stories into two bins: mythology as sacred, fantasy as product. Echo tests whether that sorting describes anything real, using one criterion, survival. Gilgamesh, Kullervo, Túrin, the Norse end of the world, and Le Guin's Earthsea are held against the same line. The result is one behavior, not two genres.
