WHAT HAPPENED TO LES MCKEOWN?    / @molc_04   ======== Les McKeown became the unmistakable voice at the center of Bay City Rollers mania, fronting the band through hits like “Shang-A-Lang,” “Bye Bye Baby,” “Give a Little Love,” and the American number one “Saturday Night.” But behind the tartan, screaming fans, and chart success was a far more complicated life. This documentary follows McKeown from his working-class beginnings in Edinburgh and the explosive rise of Rollermania to the fatal 1975 road accident that stayed with him for decades. It explores his departure from the Bay City Rollers at just twenty-two, his solo career and success in Japan, struggles with alcohol and drugs, the long-running battle over Rollers royalties, and the reunion that proved fans had never forgotten. McKeown continued performing the songs that made him famous almost until the end. Just two days before his death in April 2021, new concert dates were still being announced. His life was much bigger, darker, and more complicated than the smiling photographs of Rollermania suggested.
