Mittenwald Hike: 2 Lakes, a Waterfall & Apfelstrudel | Bavarian Alps

Two lakes, a hidden waterfall, and traditional Apfelstrudel at the end — this 10 km loop in Mittenwald might be the best day hike near Munich ⛰️ 🎬 Filmed: 02.05.2026 0:00 - Start in Mittenwald village 2:46 - Lautersee lake 3:41 - Ferchensee lake 6:11 - Waterfall ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ We went with a friend into the Bavarian Alps on a 10 km loop with around 229 metres of elevation gain. The trail starts right in the village and leads quickly into proper mountain nature. Along the way: crystal-clear streams, quiet forest paths, and two beautiful alpine lakes — Ferchensee and Lautersee — with the Karwendel mountains rising around them. The highlight of the return route is a stream that gradually becomes a waterfall. We also passed several old trail statues — unexpected and worth slowing down for.
