It also has a very evocative nickname — “La Caccia,” meaning “The Hunt.” The piece is short in length, but it moves at a lively pace with a springy, energetic rhythm. Listen closely, and you will hear recurring figures that resemble the calls of hunting horns. Combined with the music’s leaping, buoyant rhythms, they can easily bring to mind the scene of a European courtly hunt three hundred years ago, with horses racing across the countryside and hunting horns sounding one after another. This is why the piece later came to be known as “The Hunt.” Scarlatti wrote more than five hundred keyboard sonatas. Although this particular work is brief, it is concise, vigorous, and remarkably clear-cut in character. It has a distinctive charm of its own. It reflects some of the characteristic features of Baroque keyboard music while also showcasing Scarlatti’s distinctive and highly energetic personal style. #classicmusic #accordion #accordioncover
