Sakura Deadshot is a concept soundtrack created for a fictional fan game — a story about friendship, rescue, identity, lies, and bloodline.
The story begins in 2036, the tenth year after a viral outbreak. Kyoto lies in ruins. Kumoma, a squad leader of an autonomous settlement, loses all his teammates during a mission, but awakens super-speed abilities due to mutation. Three months later, his teammates' distress brainwaves echo in his mind: they are trapped deep within the ruins, slowly mutating.
Defying orders from his superiors, Kumoma returns alone to the dead zone.
He thinks he is going to save them.
He does not know that beneath the ruins lies the life that was stolen from him.
As he descends into the deepest layers of the ruins, he finds his missing teammates — their consciousness now attached to an old machine. They have taught the surrounding mutants to regain their human instincts: to eat plants, to refrain from harming humans, and to build a peaceful underground community called "Midian" in this lifeless abyss. But peace does not last. General Willson, learning of Midian's existence, sees it as a threat to be eliminated and dispatches his forces to launch a full-scale assault.
Kumoma must not only rescue his teammates but also defend a home that was never meant to exist. And his super-speed body and innate combat instincts seem to come from more than just the mutation in the ruins — they point to a deliberately buried origin, to a past between an American DSO agent and a mysterious Chinese-American female agent, a past never recorded in any file. And Kumoma is the child that past left behind — the child who was never meant to exist.
