ALICANTE (12-25 Dec 2024) After touring the Costa del Sol for 1 month, our next stop was the Costa Blanca, further north along Spain’s long scenic coastline. On 12 Dec 2024, we took a direct 5-hour train from Malaga to Alicante, the starting point for our 2-month sojourn around the region. Our Airbnb in eStudiotel building was right in the centre of town, just a 10-min walk from Alicante’s main train station. The lower floors of the building were occupied by a hotel, with a Chinese restaurant (Himalaya) on the ground floor. The tram station was only a 5-min walk away, with the main shopping boulevard and a big shopping centre also within a short walking distance. We immediately felt very comfortable with the urban downtown vibe of Alicante, as it reminded us of back home :) With a population of more than 300,000, Alicante is a much bigger city than the Costa del Sol towns of Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola and Mijas. These easygoing towns - each with around 60,000 residents - had been our playground in the preceding month. So, it was refreshing to arrive in Alicante to a more vibrant pace of life …..
