A house does not get dirty all at once. It gets dirty from small things left to sit. So I took thirteen of the "lazy" cleaning habits people swear by and tried every one in my own house, one at a time, with what is already under the sink: dish soap, white vinegar, baking soda and hot tap water. One I almost threw out, one embarrassed me, and the last one comes from a German chemist around 1960 and explains why every lazy habit that works actually works.
In this video:
• 13: Dry the sink before bed (less than a minute)
• 12: The dish towel that makes the whole kitchen smell
• 11: The trash can, and the mistake I made first
• 10: The box of baking soda in the fridge everybody gets wrong
• 9: Shoes off at the door, and a mat on both sides
• 8: Wipe the stove while it is still warm
• 7: The microwave with soapy paper towels, no heating, no scrubbing
• 6: The pan that soaks overnight
• 5: The toilet bowl, overnight
• 4: The shower, done standing up, with a long-handled brush
• 3: The sink nobody uses, and the sewer smell
• 2: The open bed and the open window
• 1: The walk-away reset: spray, set a 10-minute timer, wipe once
Everything I do around the house, written down properly — four books in one library:

PLEASE NOTE:
• NEVER mix bleach with vinegar or with ammonia. Never mix vinegar and hydrogen peroxide in the same bottle. One product at a time, and rinse with water before you switch.
• Keep hydrogen peroxide in its own brown bottle.
• No vinegar on marble, granite or any natural stone. Use it only on porcelain, fiberglass or tile.
• Use the hottest water from your tap, not boiling water.
• Open a window or run the fan while you clean.
• Cast iron does not go in an overnight soak.
• Wear gloves. Your results may be different. No result is promised. This is not medical advice.
