Church Safety Doesn't Start With the Safety Team

Church safety is everyone's responsibility, but responding to a threat isn't everyone's assignment. In this episode of Sanctuary Peacemakers, Unity explores why some of the most important opportunities to prevent an incident may come from people outside the safety ministry. Using the 2025 attempted attack at Crosspointe Community Church as a real-world example, we examine how pastors, youth ministry volunteers, worship leaders, and other church members can play an important role in recognizing and communicating potential concerns. Discover why relationships, situational awareness, responsible communication, and knowing when to seek help are essential to building a safer church environment. Because effective church safety isn't just about responding when something goes wrong. It's about recognizing opportunities to prevent problems before they escalate.
