Welcome back to Cyprus Unseen 🌊 This episode takes us to Yedidalga, a quiet coastal town on the northwestern side of Cyprus, and one of Nianka and I's favourite places to escape to.🇨🇾 At approximately 35.15° N, 32.808° E, Yedidalga became our little slice of peace — crystal-clear Mediterranean water, rocky coastline and, most importantly, far fewer crowds. It was the kind of place where we could swim, slow down and simply enjoy the silence.♥️ But beneath the peaceful coastline lies a fascinating part of Yedidalga’s history. The area sits within the historic Lefke copper-mining region, one of Cyprus’ most important mining areas. Copper had been extracted around Lefke for centuries, while modern large-scale mining began in the early 20th century under the Cyprus Mines Corporation (CMC). The nearby harbour at Yedidalga was also connected to the transportation and export of mined materials. (eemd.gov.ct.tr) For us, though, Yedidalga was never really about its history or attractions. It was about finding a quiet corner of Cyprus where the water was clear, the crowds were few, and for a little while, the rest of the world didn’t matter.🧘🏾‍♂️🍃 Cyprus Unseen — Yedidalga.
