Bolero - tribute to Maurice Béjart - oriental fusion

En 1962, Maurice Béjart, un des plus exceptionnels chorégraphes de ballets contemporains, lui compose un ballet. Il décrit la mélodie comme « d’origine orientale (…) qui s’enroule inlassablement sur elle-même, va en augmentant de volume et d’intensité, dévorant l’espace sonore et engloutissant à la fin la mélodie ». Il confie le rôle central – La Mélodie – à un danseur(se) soliste, tandis que le Rythme est interprété par un groupe de danseurs.J’avais 6 ans lorsque j’ai vu pour la première fois Jorge Donn danser le boléro dans le film Les Uns Les Autres. J’ai compris ce jour-là ce que c’était danser. Encore aujourd’hui, cette pièce me transporte et submerge. Bien que l’œuvre me dépasse, je souhaite rendre hommage à M. Béjart ainsi qu’à Jorge Donn en reprenant le concept du danseur soliste dansant cette mélodie presque incantatoire, mais dans mon propre vocabulaire oriental.
