i know the end - ATLA pmv

TW: some flashing spoilers for all of ATLA song: i know the end by phoebe bridgers -- drawn in CSP and edited in kdenlive (fuck capcut forever!!) time taken: 32 hours for the drawing and probably around 6 or so for editing. done over the course of a month (8.19 to 9.23) -- general chatter: holy shit it's done!!! oh man this was so much work and took ages but i'm quite proud of it. if there's mistakes i refuse to export it again so we'll just have to live with it anyway a bit of backstory! i watched atla way out of order; i saw season 3 first and never got around to watching season 1 and 2. but i finally watched the whole show in august and the brainworms got me BAD. i then made the mistake of listening to music and here we are! i looked on youtube and didn't see very many general show/gaang focused animatics so i wanted to throw my hat into the ring. i also want to give my friend mel a big shoutout for helping me with a few ideas and generally just cheering me on!! tysm mel for the support (: and this is all really just part of my secret dastardly plan to make people listen to this song and phoebe bridgers bit of process talk: nearly every scene is referenced directly from the show i'm not that good at art.. it's not traced or anything just screenshotted and studied way too intensely the intro is so rough ): if i had the energy to redo it i would. the initial plan was to have the whole thing mostly one or two colours and very quick and sketchy but that changed like halfway through because i'm an overachiever. instead i'm just going to play it off that it's simple because it's a flashback/past section you can tell all the budget went into the toph & sokka airship scene. i was too lazy to do the rest all fancy but this is my favourite scene... sokka is my favourite i am so ill about him and that scene. god. such a good moment for him character wise look at him he's come so far. and man the way toph cries when he says i think this is the end. goooddd there's some symbolism i put in that i want to talk about because i'm very normal about it: during the day of black sun section at "no i'm not afraid to disappear" i have the gaang with their nation colours & symbols and dressed in their invasion outfits. it was so important to me that they ditched the fire nation disguises and changed back into their nation outfits. if they fail they are going down as themselves!! i have them appear in order of who is most likely to disappear.. toph sokka katara and aang. i have such thoughts about how if the fire nation won the water tribes would likely be completely wiped out. additionally katara is the last southern waterbender (the drawing behind her is the waterbender symbol!) and aang is of course the titular last airbender. theyre so important to me ): i had to put that quote at the end because it's such a good line and perfect for the end of the story if you read this far you get a treat of your choice (:
