Is URLTV entering a new era — or are we watching the company as we know it come to an end? Tonight on Matter of Factz, we’re breaking down the current state of the Ultimate Rap League and looking at the people who helped build the company, where they stand today, and what all of these recent moves could mean for URL’s future. Norbes is OUT. After his departure from URL and the lawsuit that followed, the situation ultimately reached a settlement. Norbes has since moved into other content, including boxing-related podcasting, and has largely been absent from battle rap. Eric Beasley is STILL HERE. Beasley continues to appear to be one of URL’s primary business figures and public representatives, speaking in interviews and helping keep the machine moving. His relationship with Tsu Surf also appears to remain intact. Smack? That’s where things get interesting. Smack has separated the SMACK / SMACK DVD brand from URLTV, and tonight we’re going to show the clips and discuss exactly what that could mean. Is this simply a branding/business decision—or evidence of something much bigger happening behind the scenes? Cheeko remains the mystery. He’s historically been one of the quieter figures associated with URL’s ownership/business side, rarely appearing publicly or speaking on camera. And then there’s Tsu Surf. Surf recently posted what appears to be a URL tattoo, raising a major question: Could Surf be preparing to become more than just a battler for URL? Considering the apparent tension between Surf and Smack—and the massive battle price Surf has publicly discussed—why permanently put URL on your body now? Is Surf simply showing loyalty to the league that helped build his battle rap legacy, or could there be a larger business relationship developing? We’re also taking a serious look at the URL app. How well is the app actually doing? Is the subscription model enough to sustain URL? What other revenue streams does the company have? Has URL’s business model reached a point where major changes are necessary? And could selling all or part of the company eventually become an option? Tonight we’re separating what we know, what we can document, and what we’re simply questioning.
