I think this game shocked a lot of people with how surprisingly fun it is, especially considering how the category it was in looked like a bit of a stinker. It's an easy game to pick up and play, and the 1-ALL is very achievable for anyone, but for the l33t hardcore score chasers the game really shows its true colours in the loops. Each loop is a ridiculous step up in difficulty from the last, and by loop 4 the game is pretty much impossible. This version of the game isn't tracked on the main scorekeeping sites, including JHA, so when Calice started the highest known score was a 2-ALL by ec. The difficulty of the stage sections barely increases with each loop, but the bosses get much, much harder as their bullet speed increases a LOT. The golem and yeti aren't too bad, but the scorpion and lizard are insane, and it doesn't help that the bosses only take damage from what feels like a 1px tall weak spot. Loop 2 is already pretty crazy, and to get through it you need some good luck and dodging, but the bullets are slow enough to where you can usually dodge your way through whatever the game throws at you. Loop 3 is just on another level though, very good luck is required to make it through the scorpion and lizard, and it's really easy to blow through all your lives on just one of them. Damage is also very inconsistent in this game, sometimes you'll get hit once and go from a max power, shielded ship to the weak little robot dude, and other times you'll get hit by like 10 bullets without losing anything. But in this run, I make it through the 3-3 scorpion after only 1 death, and then no miss the 3-4 lizard! And that was after a 1-miss 2-ALL, so I've probably used up a lifetime's worth of luck on this run. Sadly I then blew all my lives on the 4-1 golem, the Loop 4 bullet speeds are just laughable, they're probably only barely readable. The funny thing is, this isn't even the #1 score, since Emma also managed a 3-ALL with an ever higher score than this. I can't believe two people actually grinded out a 3-ALL in this, maybe we'll even see a third before the month is up? So overall, a very fun game and I'd actually recommend it, certainly one of the better games in this Calice.
