Recorded live at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in Bloomington, IN on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Michael Cleveland (‪‪@MichaelClevelandFiddle‬) joined the Sam Grisman Project (‪‪@samgrismanproject‬) for nearly the entire two-set performance, creating a memorable night from beginning to end. Throughout the show, the group leans into spontaneity, musical conversation, and extended improvisation, with Michael bringing his own style and instincts into every tune while still honoring the spirit of the music. What makes the performance even more unique is that Michael sitting in for the entire evening was largely a last-minute decision. The Sam Grisman Project and Michael only had about an hour before the show to run through the first set, and no real opportunity to go over the second set at all. Much of the night involved Michael adapting on the spot, which you can hear in some of the between-song banter as tunes are called out in real time. I’m grateful to the Sam Grisman Project for allowing me to record and share this.
