At His Promotion Dinner, My Brother Mocked Me to His Boss. His Boss Said, Interesting She Owns Your. My name is Leah Breslin. I am thirty-three years old.I am standing in the entrance hall of the Shoreham Hotel Restaurant in Annapolis, Maryland, holding a glass of water that has gone warm in my palm, watching my brother try to understand what just happened to him.It is seven minutes past seven on a Tuesday evening in November. Eight people are seated at the table behind me. None of them are speaking.Greg — my brother, who is thirty-six, who was promoted to Vice President of Regional Sales at Hartfield Industrial four weeks ago, who arranged this entire dinner so that his boss could see what he had built — Greg is standing at the head of that table with the expression of a man who has said something he cannot take back. His tie is loosened. His face has gone a particular color that I associate, in my professional life, with the moment a client reads a number they were not expecting.
