Like the Israelites standing between Pharaoh's army and the water's edge, many Christians find themselves stuck between the life they left behind and the fullness God has for them. Some of the most miserable people are half-committed believers who have enough of Jesus to feel uncomfortable in the world, but enough of the world to feel uncomfortable fully surrendering to Him. God calls His people to active faith, not passive waiting. Trusting Jesus is not about hovering cautiously above the chair. It is about sitting down and placing your full weight on Him. Whatever you are running to for peace, joy, or comfort, Jesus is the true source of all of it. You cannot part your own Red Sea, but when you surrender fully to Him, He makes the waters recede.
