IT'S A MESS!! - Monday, Week 60 (05/04/2021)

New Week, New Theme! We are going to use this week (and by "we" we're referring to "I", I am going to use this week lol!) to come to terms with an aspect of my painting that was painfully evidenced during my last virtual workshop. The truth is that my palette is an absolute mess. Trying to explain the way I understand color from what is visibly happening in my palette is nothing short of a fool's errand. So when insecurities bubble up, what better way to get right back in shape and say "I am sooo OK with being a mess!" This week we reclaim the wonderful inherent qualities that make up our painting practice, whatever they may be. In my case, it's about mud and earth and soot and grey. Today, depicting my incredible mom taking her first steps towards recovery through a 4 color palette (let's face it, 4 color and me are four ever) are a wonderful and strong combination to start the week.
