The events of the previous episode, whatever those were, have left Anakin and Obi-Wan traumatised and unable to discern between reality and fiction. Obi-Wan, having abused substances his whole life, doesn't seem to notice a difference, but it takes a toll on Anakin's fragile state of mind as be begins to act in a way that can only be described as completely psychotic.
