In this edition of Sessions at the Inkwell: Conversations with Authors & Creatives, we sit down with award winning Georgia poet Elizabeth Michaud, author of the poetry collections Five Dreams and The Bones in the Garden. Elizabeth approaches poetry as a form of storytelling, exploring different styles of verse while allowing each piece to find the form that best serves its story. ✍️ Sometimes that means traditional rhyme. Sometimes it means free verse. And the stories themselves can travel just as far. Her poetry explores love and longing, loss and heartache, the mysterious depths of horror, and narratives grounded in Black history. 📚 Her collection Five Dreams received the 2025 Georgia Independent Author of the Year Award for Poetry. Her second collection, The Bones in the Garden, received recognition in the Fall 2024 American Writing Awards for Poetry.
