This vehicle has 4 total exhaust sensors. The sensors that are positioned before the catalytic converters are called Air / Fuel sensors. The Air / Fuel sensors are similar in function and in appearance to Oxygen sensors but are in fact different. The sensors located in the middle of the catalytic converters are called oxygen sensors. Oxygen sensors are unique because they can fail halfway but still work good enough to make the car run fine. usually what fails on a 02 sensor is the heater circuit, the heater circuit is a wire that runs through the 02 sensor and heats it up to operation temperature. A 02 sensor that gets very hot is when it works the best. sometimes a half failed 02 sensor ( commonly called an in range failure) will cause the 02 monitor not to run to completion. Sometimes installing new 02 sensors can expedite the completion of the 02 monitor. The 02 monitor will run when the vehicle is driven on the freeway steady around 50 - 55 mph and has 5 - 10 accelerations and deaccelerations. The 02 monitor may take up to 200+ miles of driving to run to completion. If attempting to run the 02 monitor, start the Charger and let idle for at least two minutes without touching anything before taking off. If your check engine light is on and you have any trouble codes related to a heater circuit for any exhaust sensor, it's most likely the O2 sensor that is bad, the heater circuit inside the sensor has probably opened.
