Greetings from germany. It is truly remarkable that by 1967—the year the "Hi-Score" hit the market—the Gottlieb company had already been in business for 40 years. In any case, they pulled a quirky machine out of the hat and marketed it as their "anniversary model." The gameplay on "Hi-Score" takes some getting used to, as the flippers are wired so that the left flipper button controls the left pair and the right button controls the right pair. It is thoroughly confusing, and you really have to wrap your head around it first. The roulette wheel in the center of the playfield is, of course, iconic, and Gottlieb did a fantastic job of having the achieved A-B-C values reflected in the backbox display. Brilliant. All in all, it is a truly unusual pinball machine that is well worth playing.
