THE TOUR BEGINS… SOAKED | Tour of the Lake District Ep. 1

Day One of my Tour of the Lake District started in absolutely brutal weather. Rose and I set off from Loughrigg Tarn in torrential rain, making our way through Ambleside, over the pass towards Hartsop, on to Patterdale, and finally up the Grisedale Valley. The rain eventually eased, but the day had already given us a proper introduction to what was going to be a very tough week in the mountains. We finished the day high above the valley, wild camping beside Hard Tarn — a spectacular and atmospheric place to spend the first night of the Tour. This challenge was part of my 40th birthday and was undertaken to raise money for two charities very close to us: Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary and Mountain Rescue England & Wales. This is Day One of the full Tour of the Lake District series.
