Brahma-saṁhitā 5.33 Type: Brahma-saṁhitā Date: July 19, 1971 Location: New York Speaker: His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda Why is Kṛṣṇa the oldest person, and yet always young? In this lecture on Brahma-saṁhitā 5.33, Śrīla Prabhupāda explains the verse word by word. Advaita means that Kṛṣṇa's many forms are never different from Him, unlike a person and his photographs. Acyuta means He never falls or decreases, so even if you take complete Kṛṣṇa from Kṛṣṇa, He remains complete. Anādi and ananta-rūpa mean He has no beginning, end or change, and unlimited forms. He explains that Kṛṣṇa is the original, oldest person, but is always nava-yauvana, like a youth of sixteen to twenty years, and that you will never see a picture of Kṛṣṇa as old. He also explains why Kṛṣṇa is difficult to find by studying the Vedas alone, and easy to reach through His devotee. He ends with Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura's song asking a Vaiṣṇava to accept him as his dog, and the lesson that even a dog can teach us how to be faithful to the master. May his words help us understand Kṛṣṇa as He is and take shelter of His devotees. Hare Kṛṣṇa New lectures, kīrtanas and teachings are shared every day at 6 PM IST.
