Hello 😊 Here’s my transcription of Jim Croce's song "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song". This track comes from his 1973 album I Got a Name. The bass player was Joe Macho. You can find this transcription on Muzento under the Intermediate Songs category. Here’s another wonderful bass line from Joe Macho. I really like how he adds rhythmic variation while still keeping the line very functional. That’s not an easy thing to do without sounding like you're overplaying. Joe was one of those unsung heroes of the bass world. Not a household name, never flashy, just holding things down with style and class. There are a whole bunch of ways you could play this one. In fact, it would be an excellent exercise and learning experience to find a few different ways to play some of the parts in the song. You can do this by using open and fretted strings, as well as different positions on the neck. The exploration and discovery are the lesson... and the reward ;) Read it down and really try to blend in with the vocal and the rest of the band.
