SUFFICIENCY: Historic Essays on the Sufficiency of Scripture in Counseling is a book that includes a compelling article by the late Wayne Mack, who has provided numerous resources for taking God's people to His Word for answers to life's questions. "Wherever and on whatever subject the Scriptures speak, they must be regarded as both inerrant and authoritative. As a Christian, it is because I affirm the preceding convictions that I believe in the sufficiency of Scripture in the area of counseling. Scripture is not silent about the matter of its sufficiency for both understanding man and his non-physical problems, and resolving those problems. To me, it is crystal clear about those issues. [Yet], today, many people affirm the inerrancy and authority of Scripture in matters of faith and practice, but do not affirm the sufficiency of Scripture for understanding and resolving the spiritual (non-physical) problems of man. They believe that we need the insights of psychology to understand and help people. In essence, they believe that when it comes to those matters, the Bible is fundamentally deficient. They believe that God did not design the Bible for this purpose, and consequently we must rely on extra biblical psychological theories and insights." So what does that look like in ministry and life? Can we know for certain that we are leading a life that pleases Him and brings Him glory? Do we look to Scripture alone? Join us this coming Lord's Day as we consider "Living Worthy of Our Master" (Eph 4:1-6) and what it means to walk worthy in solidarity, NOT solitude
