Every October 16th, the world pauses to reflect on a fundamental human truth: Food is a right, not a privilege.
In this special report for World Food Day 2026, themed "Innovate Today, Nourish Tomorrow," we explore how the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Lagos State Government are tackling the global hunger crisis, soaring food prices, and supply chain bottlenecks locally.
With staple food prices like Garri, Beans, and Rice tripling over recent years due to high transportation costs and post-harvest losses, Lagos State has unveiled concrete steps to empower farmers, eliminate middlemen, and make food affordable across its five divisions.
