This new MV revives the classic 1970s liquid-light technique—oils, dyes, glass plates, and overhead projectors—then rebuilds it in ultra-high-resolution to mirror the track’s dreamy, psychedelic Electone textures. The result is an immersive visualizer that pays respect to the past while embracing the present.
Why this song matters
Originally composed as an Electone practice piece, “The Word II” has reached new audiences worldwide—sampled/quoted by Mac DeMarco (“Chamber of Reflection”) and HUNCHO JACK (Travis Scott & Quavo, “How U Feel”).
Artist/Creator comment (OverLightShow / Yuichiro Oba):
“‘Word’ and ‘Light’—two keywords at the beginning. With deep respect for the original, we wove its universe into moving images. I hope this becomes a switch that helps you sync with The Word II. Filmed on a genuine 1970s liquid-light rig and captured in 8K.”
