I travelled in First Class on Irish Rail’s Dublin to Cork InterCity route, boarding the train at Portlaoise and continuing to Cork Kent Station, to discover what passengers actually receive for the First Class upgrade. In this honest Irish Rail First Class review, I show you inside the First Class carriage, including the seats, legroom, tables, power sockets, onboard comfort and overall atmosphere. I also examine how First Class compares with standard class and whether travelling First Class on an Irish train offers genuine value for money. The Dublin to Cork railway is one of Ireland’s principal InterCity routes, operating between Dublin Heuston Station and Cork Kent Station. Although my journey began at Portlaoise, this was the regular Iarnród Éireann Dublin–Cork service. Was the carriage quieter and more comfortable?
