The Periplus of Hanno The Navigator -

This represents a lesson from Carthaginian history, as an eighteen-line document about Hanno's account of his journey along the west coast of Africa (said to be written on the wall of a Carthaginian temple but translated into Greek) is considered unique. This is the only known direct report on those areas. It is the longest known text by a Carthaginian author. Furthermore, Hanno has a great story to tell: he visited a mysterious island, had to fight some natives, survived a volcanic eruption, and encountered gorillas. 0:00 Introduction 1:04 First accounts of "The Periplus of Hanno" 1:28 Carthage at the time of the voyage 2:53 Text of The Periplus 9:45 Analysis of the text of The Periplus 11:36 Outro Sources: https://www.guinnessworldrecords.ae/w... https://www.livius.org/articles/perso... https://www.livius.org/articles/perso... https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanno_d... https://www.worldhistory.org/map/-700... https://archive.org/stream/cu31924031... https://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/... https://www.calameo.com/read/00010704... https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Page:T... https://www.historyofinformation.com/... https://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/dig... https://drevlit.ru/phoenician_diction...
