Off grid in the New Forest | Is RAF Stoney Cross lost forever?

Longbeech Campsite is actually sitting on part of the former RAF Stoney Cross airfield, so there is a fascinating wartime story hidden among the trees and pitches. In this video, we travel to Longbeech and get set up, ready to start exploring the hidden history camouflaged by over 80 years of New Forest growth. We start to discover the location of long lost accommodation and technical services blocks and start to build a picture of what the airbase looked like in 1942. The recent hot weather has dried the ground out so much that old footings and building footprints have become visible.
