Patturumaal: Shajeer, Shafeeque & Azhar | Minmini breaks down | 15th December 2014 | Highlights

In this episode of Patturumaal Season 2, first watch Shajeer Abubacker CT from Muttil in Wayanad perform 'Sujood Cheyyam' in the Muzalla round, while Shafeeque from Mannarcaud in Palakkad performs 'Thouaaha Rasoolullahe' in the Khabile Paattu round. Azhar Kambil of Kolenchery in Kannur then performs 'Yahayoom Allah', originally rendered by Kannur Sherief, in the Muzalla round, and the judges then give their feedback and evaluation at the end of each individual performance. Minmini is moved to tears by Shafeeque's performance. Hosted by Nandini, Patturumaal is a reality music competition on Kairali TV in which contestants sing Mappila pattukkal or Muslim songs. Mappila Paattu or Mappila Song is a genre of Muslim folklore rendered in colloquial dialect, which is very popular in the Northern part of Kerala. Mappila songs have a distinct cultural identity, while at the same time, remain closely linked to the cultural practices of Kerala. These songs use words from Persian, Urdu, Tamil, Hindi apart from Arabic and Malayalam. The participants are judged by singers VM Kutty, Shabnam Riyaz and Minmini.
