Luminaries of the Indian Freedom Movement like Sarojini Naidu and Mohamed Ali Jinnah held court in suites here. Lord Mountbatten, the last Viceroy, even gave a farewell speech here in 1947. Presidents and royalty have walked these halls, and after the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Barack Obama was the first foreign head of state to stay at the restored hotel as a symbol of resilience. The Taj Hotel, Mumba had India’s first electric elevators, Turkish baths, and India's first licensed bar, The Harbour Bar, before almost anyone else. On December 16, 1903, the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel welcomed its first 17 guests. It wasn't just another hotel; it was a revolution. The Taj was the first hotel in India with electricity. It had American fans, German elevators, and telephones in every room, luxury that were unheard of at the time. This isn't just a five-star hotel; it’s a masterclass in hospitality and a landmark of living history. It was an honour to be a small part of its story, even for just a few days.
