IDSA 2026 Antimicrobial resistant gram negatives Bacterial Infections Guideline Updates

The management of bacterial infections is evolving rapidly with the emergence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens and the availability of newer antibiotics. In this video, we review the most important bacterial infection updates from the IDSA 2026 guidance, with a special focus on practical recommendations for physicians, intensivists, infectious disease specialists, emergency physicians, internists, and microbiologists. This evidence-based summary highlights the latest recommendations on antimicrobial-resistant Gram-negative infections, including the management of ESBL-producing Enterobacterales, carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE), difficult-to-treat Pseudomonas aeruginosa, carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB), and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia.
