"The Northeast Lines" is a private, double-decked, proto-freelanced HO scale model railroad layout designed and built by Joe Walters, MMR (Master Model Railroader) in Bear, Delaware. The highly detailed layout is structured heavily around realistic operations, depicting a bustling short-line corridor. The railroad is meticulously designed for realistic timetables and scale operations rather than simple continuous loop watching. The system manages train routing and freight delivery demands via a traditional card waybill system. A dedicated dispatcher sits stationed inside the center of the helix layout to route traffic and maintain control across the system. During a standard three-hour club operating session, the layout successfully handles a high volume of traffic, running up to 27 active trains.
