Baby Gorilla Mara Will Steal Your Heart 🦍 A Calm, Curious Little Soul at Columbus Zoo

Meet Mara, the youngest gorilla at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium! In this heartwarming video, we spend time with baby gorilla Mara as she explores her world alongside her devoted mother, Sue. Filmed when Mara was about 15 months old, this young western lowland gorilla already showed a calm, thoughtful personality that made her a joy to watch. Mara was born on June 29, 2024, to Sue and silverback Ktembe at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. As a western lowland gorilla, Mara is part of a critically endangered species, making every birth an important contribution to conservation efforts. We've been fortunate to film baby gorillas at zoos around the world, including the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, and Prague Zoo. One of the most fascinating things about following young gorillas is seeing how each develops a unique personality—and Mara's gentle spirit shines through in every moment.
