Authentic Turkish Sufi Music | Segâh Maqam • Whirling Dervish in an Autumn Anatolian Courtyard

Experience the timeless beauty of Turkish music through authentic maqams, traditional instruments, and immersive cinematic ambient soundscapes. Have you ever listened to traditional Turkish music in the Segâh Maqam? Step into a deeply spiritual soundscape inspired by the quiet beauty of an ancient Anatolian Mevlevi courtyard in autumn. Expressive ney melodies, warm cinematic strings, subtle tanbur harmonics, soft atmospheric textures, and the mystical character of the Segâh Maqam come together to create a peaceful space for meditation, reflection, reading, relaxation, and sleep. Imagine a single whirling dervish turning slowly in the center of an old stone courtyard, surrounded by golden autumn leaves, soft morning mist, warm lantern light, ancient arches, and distant Anatolian mountains. The ney remains at the heart of the music, carrying long flowing Segâh Maqam phrases with subtle microtonal expression, restrained Turkish ornamentation, and a natural breathy tone. Soft strings, delicate cello and viola, distant qanun colors, subtle atmospheric drones, and sparse piano notes remain gently beneath the performance. The result is spiritual and timeless — deeply expressive without becoming dramatic, meditative without feeling empty, and atmospheric without losing its authentic Turkish identity. Close your eyes. Breathe slowly. Let the sema carry you inward. 🎧 Best experienced with headphones. ───────────────────── 🎧 Listen to the full album on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/intl-tr/albu... About this Recording Segâh Maqam — Whirling Dervish in an Autumn Anatolian Courtyard is part of the ANATOLIAN MAQAM SERIES, an original collection produced by NEVA Soundworks. Every composition in this series is carefully crafted to preserve the timeless spirit of the Anatolian maqam tradition while reimagining it through modern cinematic ambient sound design. Each recording is built using custom sound palettes, authentic acoustic instruments, evolving atmospheric textures, and carefully designed harmonic structures. Every visual environment is individually art-directed to complement the emotional character of the maqam, creating a seamless audiovisual experience for meditation, relaxation, sleep, study, and mindful reflection. In this recording, the introspective and mystical character of the Segâh Maqam unfolds through expressive ney melodies, restrained Turkish ornamentation, subtle microtonal expression, warm sustained strings, delicate cello and viola textures, subtle tanbur harmonics, distant qanun colors, soft atmospheric drones, and sparse piano notes. The ney remains the dominant melodic voice, carrying long and breath-like phrases with warmth, depth, and spiritual stillness, while the supporting instruments create a spacious cinematic environment without overpowering the maqam. The visual setting reflects the spiritual world of the music: a single whirling dervish performing sema in an ancient Anatolian courtyard during autumn, surrounded by weathered stone arches, golden leaves, soft mist, warm lantern light, and distant mountains. At NEVA Soundworks, we believe that every maqam carries its own emotional landscape. Rather than simply composing ambient music, our goal is to preserve and reinterpret one of Anatolia's richest musical traditions for a global audience through contemporary cinematic production.
