“He’s Working in the Waiting” was inspired by a sermon I heard from Father Dan Reehil, VF, Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Church. After hearing the message, the verse stayed with me and became the foundation for this song. I reached out to Pastor Reehil on October 22nd to share how his sermon inspired the lyrics, and he graciously gave me permission to publish the song to give God glory.
This is a powerful reminder that God often uses trials, delays, and difficult seasons to shape our purpose. David faced a giant before the crown, Joseph endured prison before the palace, Esther walked through crisis before becoming queen, and Moses wandered the wilderness before leading a nation.
This song speaks to the moments when life feels uncertain or painful, reminding us that God is not breaking us—He’s building us. Every trial becomes preparation, every waiting season a place where faith grows stronger.
James 1:2-4 NIV
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
I am the songwriter, and I use AI as a creative tool to produce the music for my songs.
Lyrics
When God wanted to make David a king,
He didn’t hand him a crown —
He gave him a Goliath.
When God wanted to raise Joseph up,
He didn’t open a shortcut —
He gave him a prison.
He’s working in the waiting, shaping every fight,
Turning all our trials into strength and light.
When it feels like breaking, He’s molding deep inside,
Building the purpose that only pain can refine.
God doesn’t give what we expect to see,
He gives what we need to become who we’re meant to be.
When God wanted to make Esther a queen,
He didn’t give her comfort —
He gave her a crisis.
When God wanted to make Moses a leader, He didn’t give him a stage —
He gave him a wilderness.
He’s working in the waiting, shaping every fight,
Turning all our trials into strength and light.
When it feels like breaking, He’s molding deep inside,
Building the purpose that only pain can refine.
God doesn’t give what we expect to see,
He gives what we need to become who we’re meant to be.
Many times, when it feels like God is breaking us,
He’s really building us.
God build me and guide me to be who you want me to be
He’s working in the waiting, shaping every fight,
Turning all our trials into strength and light.
When it feels like breaking, He’s molding deep inside,
Building the purpose that only pain can refine.
God doesn’t give what we expect to see,
He gives what we need to become who we’re meant to be.
