Welcome to session two of "Foundational Theology," a 5-series exploring fundamental Islamic beliefs, worldviews, and spiritual leadership in the home.
In this class, the discussion transitions from the definition of Din and the human "Chain of Thought" to the core concepts of Jahan-Bini (Worldview), Ideology, and Epistemology. Examining how one's view of the universe directly shapes behavior, the lecture breaks down the three foundational questions every true worldview must answer (Origin, Purpose, and Destination) and contrasts the divine (celestial) worldview with the terrestrial (materialistic) worldview. The session also explores the internal harmony between human reason, intellect, and knowledge in navigating life's choices.
In This Lecture:
Recap of Lesson 1: Reviewing the lexical meaning of religion and the six-link "Chain of Thought" from thought to action and habit (Malakah).
Defining Worldview (Jahan-Bini): Exploring how an individual's view of harmony between man and the universe dictates their lifestyle.
The 3 Core Questions of Worldview: Why any valid worldview must logically and intellectually answer Origin, Purpose, and Destination.
The Dynamic Process of Worldview: How a worldview informs reason, thoughts, and knowledge, which in turn continuously refines our worldview.
Divine vs. Terrestrial Worldviews: Differentiating between a supernatural, purposeful framework and a materialist, chance-based outlook.
Epistemology and Ideology: Understanding how we know what we know (Epistemology) and how a worldview establishes practical behavioral guidelines (Ideology).
