IRON MAN 2: Did too many Tonys spoil the plot? (Marvel Moiders 22)

‘What is legacy if not ego persevering?’ as Vision almost said. The first IRON MAN was such a success that for the sequel, they had a load of Iron Man copies involved - War Machine, Whiplash, Justin Hammer. Wall-to-wall snark, my friends! Even senators were dropping comedic bombs. Was that a bit of overkill? Dom didn't realise that IRON MAN 2 had been poorly received. Were there too many plot lines? Too many characters? It all seemed pretty well balanced to Dom, but comment your takes. Director Jon Favreau was only given two years to make the follow-up, and all of the many parents of that first movie's success* had notes about keeping things light and making sure the Avengers were eluded to and steering clear from the alcoholism. The process burnt him out and so we were denied the opportunity of seeing his take on The Avengers.
