Is Shahdara Outside Lahore? | Welcome to Lahore Sign & Shahdara Chowk Failed Beautification Project

Is Shahdara Outside Lahore? Welcome to Lahore Sign & Shahdara Beautification Project Ground Reality 2026 In this latest Shehar Nama vlog, I visit Shahdara Lahore to explore an interesting question: if Shahdara is already part of Lahore, why is a huge “Welcome to Lahore” sign installed near the Ravi Bridge after passing through Shahdara? During this complete ground visit, I show the Welcome to Lahore sign, Shahdara Chowk, Shahdara Metro Station area, Ravi Bridge, GT Road entrance to Lahore and the current condition of the surrounding beautification work. The vlog also examines the Shahdara Beautification Project and its present ground reality. Beautification and landscaping were planned around Shahdara and the major entrance routes to Lahore, but what does the area look like today? Has the Shahdara beautification project failed to achieve its intended impact, or does the area simply need better maintenance? This video shows the site so viewers can see the current situation themselves. Another interesting question is the identity of Shahdara itself. Is Shahdara part of Lahore? Is Shahdara outside Lahore? Where does Lahore actually begin? I discuss the administrative and historical connection between Shahdara, Lahore and the River Ravi. Shahdara has historically served as an important gateway to Lahore and is also associated with major Mughal-era landmarks, including Jahangir’s Tomb, Noor Jahan’s Tomb and Akbari Sarai.
