Heavy Rain 22–24 | Cyclone ‘Arnab’ Update Odisha Weather Alert as a low-pressure area has formed over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining areas and is moving west-northwestwards while intensifying. The system is expected to become a depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal on September 21 and may intensify further into a deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal on September 22 before approaching the South Odisha–North Andhra coast around September 23. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected across Odisha from September 22 to 24, with alerts issued for several districts including Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati. The IMD has warned of very heavy and extremely heavy rainfall on September 22 and 23. The possibility of the system becoming a cyclonic storm is still uncertain. If it develops into a cyclone, the name ‘Arnab’ is being mentioned.
