Featuring: Dragan Popovic, Executive Vice President and Chief of Global Operations, X-energy Kreshka Young, North America Business Director, Energy and Climate, Dow Russ Shulz, Vice President, Project Management, Fluor Moderator: Sophia Cunningham, Senior VP for Energy, Greater Houston Partnership | Executive Director, Houston Energy Transition Initiative Texas has made the case that it is time to build — and this panel brings together partners that are putting that call into practice. X-energy, Dow, and Fluor will share the story of one of the most closely watched advanced nuclear efforts in the country: the project to deploy X-energy’s Xe-100 high-temperature gas-cooled reactor technology at Dow’s Seadrift, Texas manufacturing site through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. Central to the discussion is a genuine first for the industry: progress toward the first commercial construction permit ever pursued for an advanced nuclear reactor to provide high-temperature process steam and electricity at an operating industrial facility. The panelists will walk through what it took to reach this point, including aligning a reactor developer, an industrial end user, and an EPC partner around a shared licensing and delivery pathway. They will then discuss what’s to come at Seadrift, as well as what the project’s imminent milestones signal for the broader effort to leverage U.S.-designed advanced reactors to bring power and process heat to American industry.
