The $20 Sharpening Setup That Can Make Old Tools Cut Like New

Everything in this video comes out of the same place: the American home workshop, back when it was a working room instead of a storage space. Some of these tools are gone entirely. Some still turn up at estate sales and nobody knows what they were for. Some of these skills took a man years to learn and disappeared in one generation, replaced by a machine, a service call, or a cheap thing that gets thrown out the first time it breaks. We go through the list one item at a time. What it was, how it was used, why it went away, and whether it is worth bringing back. If you still have one of these in your garage, your basement, or in a box your father left behind, say so in the comments. Most of what survives was saved by somebody who refused to throw it out. Subscribe for more lists from the lost American workshop. This channel is for historical and educational purposes. Old tools and old methods came from a time with very different safety standards. Use your judgment, wear eye protection, and do not attempt anything shown here without the proper training and equipment.
