What was Turbo about? Turbo continues directly from Power Rangers Zeo. After the Rangers defeat the Machine Empire, they receive a new set of powers based around vehicles and Turbo technology. Their new enemy is Divatox, a space pirate who wants to conquer Earth and ultimately destroy the Rangers. The Rangers use the Turbo Morphers, Turbo Zords, and various vehicles to fight Divatox and her forces. The original Turbo team begins with: 🔴 Tommy Oliver — Red Turbo Ranger 🟢 Adam Park — Green Turbo Ranger 🟡 Tanya Sloan — Yellow Turbo Ranger 🩷 Katherine "Kat" Hillard — Pink Turbo Ranger 🔵 Justin Stewart — Blue Turbo Ranger Justin was particularly unusual because he was only 12 years old, making him the youngest human Ranger in the franchise at the time. The BIG team change This is probably the thing most people remember about Turbo. Halfway through the season, Tommy, Adam, Tanya and Kat leave the Ranger team to move on with their lives. Their powers are passed to a new group: 🔴 T.J. Johnson — Red Turbo Ranger 🟢 Carlos Vallerte — Green Turbo Ranger 🟡 Ashley Hammond — Yellow Turbo Ranger 🩷 Cassie Chan — Pink Turbo Ranger 🔵 Justin Stewart — Blue Turbo Ranger That transition is extremely important because T.J., Carlos, Ashley and Cassie would continue into the next season, Power Rangers in Space. Where did Turbo come from? Here's the cool behind-the-scenes part: Turbo was adapted from the Japanese Super Sentai series Gekisou Sentai Carranger. The Japanese show originally aired from 1996–1997, and Toei's action footage, costumes and concepts were adapted for Power Rangers Turbo. And interestingly, Carranger was much more comedic than Power Rangers Turbo. It was actually designed as something of a parody of the Super Sentai franchise. And there's a movie before the series Before the TV season, there was: Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie It serves as the story that introduces the Turbo powers and leads directly into the TV series. The movie came after Power Rangers Zeo and established the new Turbo Rangers. So the basic timeline is: Mighty Morphin → Alien Rangers → Zeo → Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie → Turbo → In Space And Turbo's final two-part story, "Chase Into Space," leads directly into Power Rangers in Space.
