All Quranic verses and hadith below were verified prior to drafting. Arabic terms in the narration were rendered into their English meanings, with the exception of the word Allah, per standing production guidelines.
1. Surah Al-Baqarah 2:216
“Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not.” (Sahih International translation)
Used in the narration to reframe the listener's loss as possible protection rather than punishment.
2. Sahih Muslim 2654 (also numbered 2655 in some editions)
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As: the Prophet, peace be upon him, said that the hearts of the children of Adam are all between two fingers of the Most Merciful, like one heart, which He turns however He wills. He then supplicated, “O Allah, Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Your obedience.” Graded authentic; also recorded by At-Tirmidhi (2140) and Ibn Majah (3834).
Used to establish that the heart's attachments are not fully within a person's own control, and that redirection is sought through Allah rather than through willpower alone.
3. Surah Ad-Duha 93:3–5
“Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor is He displeased. And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present. And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.” (Sahih International translation). Revealed to comfort the Prophet, peace be upon him, during a painful pause in revelation that his opponents mischaracterized as abandonment.
Used to reassure the listener that a painful silence or waiting period is not evidence of being forsaken.
4. Surah At-Talaq 65:3
“And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah, then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a decreed extent.” (Sahih International translation)
Used to anchor the listener in tawakkul, trust in Allah, as sufficient even when a specific hoped-for outcome does not arrive.
